Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
This update on his health arrives after the global fight fans shared sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
