Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
