That Gory Animated Film Conclusion That Lingers Audiences

Among every adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve ever viewed, nothing has remained with me as much as the fear-filled ending of a graphically gory and deeply subversive 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in 2015’s, this Spanish writer-director created a dark, somber and frequently brutal universe that included a few small , forlorn twinges of hope.

Although The Unicorn Wars feels like it stemmed from a drive to expand the medium even more, the filmmaker clarified that it was actually an attempt to express a widespread, multicultural message regarding “the mutual source of every conflict.”

That message is expressed through a squad of colorful pastel bears , clearly based on a popular series of lovable figures.

Growing up in a society built around militarism and the military-industrial complex, many of these creatures are consumed by slaughtering the mythical beasts, thanks to a sacred text that claims them they used to be kings of the woodland, until these creatures drove them out.

Others haven’t fully bought into the indoctrination, , choose to sample substances or engage sexually in the woods.

In contrast to their friendly counterparts, these colorful critters show sexual organs and definite sex drives.

For a particular especially vicious, pessimistic creature, Bluey, the conflict with unicorns transforms into a route to control — and specifically to authority above his softer, nicer brother Tubby.

This bear acts as a tormentor and a seeming antisocial figure , and as fear dominates his squad and kills his fellow soldiers sequentially, he grabs increasingly influence personally, in increasingly violent, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, the unicorns are enduring their own terror, through a spreading, deadly beast in their habitat.

“At the beginning, it feels like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “Yet it evolves into a more serious and sad movie. And by the end, it’s a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out similar to among the quirky movies from a renowned animator, that discover a mischievous joy in letting cartoon characters swear, fire weapons, or have intimate relations.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a bleaker movie by that same director, with increasingly graphic violence and a noticeable link to the actual horror of war.

By the end, it is an outright Grand Guignol massacre.

The terror that makes the film a perfect Halloween viewing begins much sooner than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the hardcore fans of gore, for lovers of intense movies who desire to view a film they haven’t ever watched previously, and can endure a narrative which delivers absolutely no punches.

See it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will dig into your mind and linger.
