The most recent Far Cry instalment that gamers explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for delighting in violence and madness with the same excitement, all while weaving captivating, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two visionaries whose work have embodied all of those elements.
Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the self-contained anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a new setting and ensemble in each season.
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally accommodating, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing belief and backing.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a variation of a theme, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always examining the core of humanity through this intricate and chaotic viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and present our common unconventional, ambitious approach to the audience.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
